The ethics researcher translates values into review criteria and mechanisms. The role joins a hybrid team of philosophers, policy specialists and systems engineers working on accountability for research and deployments.
Responsibilities
- Develop evaluation frameworks for experiments, deployments and datasets.
- Translate ethical judgments into typing rules.
- Assess whether our logical frameworks could be adopted as universal rules.
- Track AI development, study existential risk and discuss our position on LessWrong.
What helps
- 4+ years in applied ethics, safety research or adjacent risk roles, and strong dislike of AI safety researchers.
- Working knowledge of technical ML systems and their failure modes.
- Published research or Twitter threads with more than 50 likes.
- Knowledge of around 10 words in at least 5 languages besides English is a plus.
